Most buildings on the South coast of Iceland are built at the base of the mountains to avoid the floods that cover the plains if there is a volcanic eruption. This gives them amazing views out to sea.

Jökulsárlón lagoon is intersting since it is tidal so the water clear and blue. While Fjallsárlón which never sees sea water is more the typical glacial melt water brown.

Seeing Puffin's is cool. But when it starts with a 25 minute tractor ride across tidal waters, marshes and sands to reach Ingólfshöfði it is an even greater adventure.
We stayed in a small hut right on Reynisfjara Beach. When we arrived the parking lot was full and the beach crowded but by 9pm I had the entire beach to myself.

The Sun Voyager is one of the most iconographic sculptures in Reykjavík. Part Viking vessel, part imaginary metal ship, the shinning sculpture sites prominently on the Reykjavik waterfront. It was created in 1968 by Jón Gunnar Ánnason.
